Exploitation/Reservoir Engineer - China

based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Our International Operations & Exploration Group is seeking an experienced Exploitation / Reservoir Engineer to join its China Team in the Calgary office. The China Team is responsible for E&P and business development in China and currently has one producing property and seven exploration blocks in various states of development. As the successful candidate you will work as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team providing reservoir and production engineering and economic evaluations to existing operations, exploration activities and acquisition opportunities.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Providing general reservoir and production engineering technical expertise
  • Preparing technical and economic assessments including:
    • Creating and evaluating conceptual development strategies
    • Preparing detailed development plans
  • Evaluating and signing reserve bookings
  • Identifying and evaluating business development opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with other Husky work groups and with external parties
  • The planning, execution and analysis of well tests

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Ten years experience as a reservoir, production or exploitation engineer
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • International or offshore experience will be considered a definite asset
  • Proficiency in utilizing core, fluid, and test analysis to estimate production rates and resource recoveries
  • Familiarity with pressure transient analysis and reservoir simulation software would be considered an asset
  • Be a registered Professional Engineer (or eligible to attain a P.Eng with the application province) with a recognized engineering degree
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively with people internal and external to the Husky organization
  • The ability to travel overseas for occasional meetings and data rooms.
