Senior Geophysicist (SE Asian National)

Location Indonesia
An international oil and gas exploration company quoted on the London Stock Exchange, with a portfolio of producing assets in the UK, Indonesia, Pakistan and West Africa. Production is currently around 35,000 boepd with a development programme in place to take the company to 50,000 boepd by 2008. An active exploration and appraisal programme is ongoing in the UK, South and South East Asia (Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan and India) and Africa (Mauritania, Guinea Bissau, Gabon and Egypt).

Position Description:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary environment to provide geological input to the development and producing assets within the companies operate and non-operated licenses.
  • Leads in the creation of 3D geological and reservoir models through the integration of all subsurface data, to be used as a basis for reservoir simulation.
  • Objectively assess risks and uncertainty and incorporate into quantification of reserve size distributions.
  • Analyse reservoir and well performance together with the RE and PE to maintain and update the reservoir models and propose infill well and intervention activity.
  • Prepare well proposals and interface with the drilling engineering and operations team.
  • Prepares AFE requests, provides input on preparation of technical specifications for contracts, carries out the bidding process for contract award, monitors and controls field expenditures and assists in budget preparation.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders including joint venture partners and government representatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation of all major work and studies undertaken
Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science or preferably Master of Science in Geology or Earth Science
  • Extensive workstation skills and experience in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation
  • Experience in using petroleum system analysis in both regional and detailed prospect assessment.
  • Experience in applied geophysics and Quantitative Interpretation
  • Good understanding of seismic acquisition and processing methods
  • Analytical skills to integrate and interpret a broad variety of data sets
  • Good interdisciplinary training
  • Strongly computer literate, especially workstations
  • Self motivated with a proven record of achieving targets
  • Fluent in English both writing and speaking
